Dethatching (Scarifying)

Lawns over a period of time build up thatch which is a dead layer of old roots, leaves and grass clippings. This in time becomes a problem as it encourages turf disease and insects attacking grass. It can also lead to " localized dry patch" in summer causing patchy dry areas which water will not penetrate.

The solution is to dethatch (also know as Scarifying) the lawn. This is done with a machine with vertical blades which cuts through these dead areas pulling the dead matter to the surface for removal. The result is better drainage, better root growth, less damage from insects and disease in the turf
